Amcor reports strong 2016 1st half results in its Flexibles business

Australia's Amcor Ltd has reported profit before interest and tax (PBIT) from continuing operations for the half year ended 31 December 2015 declining by 5.7% to US$489.0 million on consolidated sales down 5.4% at US$4,547.7 million. PBIT and sales development were negatively impacted by currency movements. In constant currency terms PBIT and sales increased by 4.3% and 3.3% respectively. The Flexibles business, which includes the Flexibles Europe, Middle East and Africa, Flexibles Americas, Flexibles Asia Pacific and Tobacco Packaging businesses, is reported to have had a "solid" half year, with PBIT in Euro terms increasing by 7.4% to ?321.0 million on sales up 7.3% at ?2,706 million. Underlying constant currency PBIT increased by 6.1%.
