ITC plans US$70 million confectionery plant in India

Indian conglomerate ITC has announced plans to construct a US$70 million packaged foods and confectionery plant in the eastern state of Odisha. The company, which intends to grow its confectionery sales with the launch of new products under the Mint-o and Candyman brands, also reported last quarter the establishment of a US$113 million food manufacturing facility in the northern state of Punjab to produce branded packaged biscuits, snacks, noodles, juices and Atta (a whole wheat flour used to make flatbreads such as chapati).
