Berry Plastics to close a flexible packaging plant but also invests

US packaging giant, Berry Plastics Group Inc. has announced that it is to close it's Kent, Washington flexible packaging facility as part of a recently launched cost reduction plan. The plan will see the closure of five production facilities, three of which have been announced as the Kent facility; a rigid open top plant in Alsip, Illinois; and an engineering materials plant in Houston, Texas. The restructuring move comes in an effort to align the company with the slow economic growth anticipated for 2014. However, Berry has stated that the move will not affect any deliveries to customers or alter the current product offerings.
