PP resin costs on the rise again in the US

PP resin prices in February have jumped 24% as plant maintenance closures and a refinery being down due to a power outage caused a tightening in the supply of propylene in North America. Exxon Mobil Chemical's facility in Baytown, and DOW Chemicals unit in Hahnville have both been temporarily out of action due to maintenance and Flint Hills Resources in Port Arthur has also been down due to a power outage. This has impacted the polypropylene supply chain causing pricing volatility to return and forcing some buyers to consider non-regional PP supply sources.
