Bemis closing five North American plants

In January 2012 Bemis Company announced the closure of two further flexible packaging plants in California and Toronto with production relocated to other production sites in the US. Both these facilities came to Bemis with the acquisition of the Alcan Food Americas business from Rio Tinto in 2010. The California plant is planned for closure in May 2012 with the loss of 124 jobs and the Toronto plant in December where there will be 142 job losses.
