Resin costs went up by ?50 to ?1,500 / tonne at the end of May and came down ?20 to ?1,480 in mid-August. This contrasts to the last three years when resin prices mostly remained unchanged at around ?1,400 / tonne. The fluctuations in resin prices during Q3, 2014 were reflected in changes made to film prices, especially by off-shore suppliers. When resin came down, off-shore film suppliers tended to reduce their prices by more than European producers especially for spot volumes. Even when European film producers increased their prices, some off-shore prices remained the same.
