TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

In last month's issue I provided statistics on the subsidy reimbursements made to participating companies from the levy. What I failed to mention was that considerable thought has been given to the courses going forward in terms of content and structure of the courses.Based on information from the skills audit it is evident that there is a need for the courses in the sector. Having looked at input from participating candidates it is evident that some changes are required to the structure of the courses but not the content. Having considered both aspects, a proposal has been tabled that as the management courses are still relevant to the industry, that the structure be adapted to that of a workshop approach with the intention of inviting guest speakers to present on topics of interest during the courses. Course material would be presented at a more focussed and higher level than previously with the aim of tackling issues relevant to the production discipline.
