摘要

Effect pigments - mostly being small platelets with high aspect ratio - are embedded in thin polymeric coatings to add a special visual appearance by generating some colour flop (including brightness) and/or some goniometric texture. The appearance is influenced by a) the kind of effect pigment, especially, in the case of interference pigments, by its layer structure and the optical properties of the substances included; b) the area coverage of the effect pigments determined by pigment concentration and paint film thickness t and c) the orientation distribution of the effect pigment normals with respect to the paint surface normal.
