The British Coatings Federation celebrated the best of the coatings industry at its recent Sustainability Awards evening. The key theme for the evening was progression and the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Sustainable Innovation award. Crown Paints took the accolade for Earthbalance, the company-wide initiative designed to take an holistic and coherent approach to sustainability. Judges, Dr Phil Gamlen, David Thomas and Dr Peter Collins commended Earthbalance for the way it has become embedded in the day-to-day workings of Crown Paints and also its suppliers. The data collected from quantifying the carbon footprint was also utilised in further R & D projects - another element that impressed the judges.
