Block poly(butylene-diethylene succinate) copolymers have been investigated with differential scanning calorimetry and hot stage optical microscopy, in order to determine the melting behaviour, crystallisation kinetics and morphology. It is reported that polymers having long poly(butylene succinate) blocks present the same behaviour as poly(butylene succinate) polymers, suggesting that the non-crystalline poly(ethylene succinate) blocks are not affecting the macromolecular folding. The crystallisation mechanism, involving heterogeneous nucleation and three dimensional crystal growth, has been found to be the same in all cases.
