摘要

There is a growing need for liquid crystal displays in television applications, and the multi-domain vertical alignment (MVA) mode seems to be most promising. By using protrusions on the surface substrate, which leads to domains that are switchable in different directions, it is possible to obtain good display performance. However, it is difficult to define the domain space for a single pixel, by using these protrusions only, and a means of producing an alignment layer which allows pre-defined alignment directions with each pixel domain is desirable.
