There is huge interest in the use of graphene in nanocomposites. The properties of these nanocomposites seem to depend on the degree of exfoliation of the graphene sheets, but dispersion of graphene is difficult. This problem has been addressed principally by using graphene oxide, which has a more hydrophilic material and more readily exfoliated; however, the material now shows insulating properties due to the disrupted sp~2 structure. Various methods of reducing the graphene oxide are mentioned in the literature including photochemical approaches.
