A cost effective method for coating substrates with transparent/conductive metal nanopowders and inks is claimed. Inks typically contained, amongst others materials, the following two components; a binder either, ethyl cellulose or polyvinyl pyrrolidone in combination with appropriate solvents and a metal nanoparticle. Examples of metal nanoparticles given were silver nanopowder, colloidal silver, silver formate salt or silver nitrate. The systems were dispersed using either ultrasonication or high speed dispersion. In some cases, a dispersant, such as polycarboxylic ammonium salt or a coupling agent, were required. Also claimed are similar emulsion formulations of conductive nanoparticles. In addition the patent covers other conductive metal particles with a mean particle diameter of less than 1μm, as well as nanotitanium dioxide and nanosilica.
