摘要

The exact mechanism of metal-catalysed ATRP activation is unclear; however, the atom transfer of a halogen atom from one species (Polymer-Halogen) to a metal complex with a low oxidation state provides radicals (Polymer) enabling propagation of polymerisation. Nitrogen ligand copper complexes are by far the most common metal complexes used for ATRP reported in literature.
