Polymer Functionaiisation Methods

New ferrocene-containing triarylborane polymers are reported and prepared from trimethylsilyl-substituted polystyrene, via polymer modification reactions with organometallic reagents. The properties of the modified polymers were compared to the standard. Cyclic voltametry revealed that the reversible ferrocene-centered oxidation and boron-centered reduction processes were at the same magnitude with the molecular species. The polymer behaviour is shown to have less fluoride affinity.
