The use of diols derived from biomass in polyurethane chemistry is the concern of the present work.Several polyurethanes have been produced from isosorbide, isomannide and isoidide, respectively polyethers thereof in combination with HDI and MDI by polyaddition in the presence of dibutyl tin dilaurate. The characterisation of the new polyurethane backbones has employed matrix-assisted laser desorbtion/ionisation mass spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy.
