Accepted and hidden realities of the basel ban on hazardous waste exports

In september 1995, to great political acclaim, the conference of the parties to the basel convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal adopted an amendment prohibiting the export of hazardous wastes from organization for economic cooperation and development countries to non-OECD members.
