摘要

Six iron(II) and ruthenium(II) complexes of 4′-amino-functionalised 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridines (4′-Rtpy) in which R = PhNH (1), 4-MeOC _6H _4NH (2) and 3,5-Me _2C _6H _3NH (3) have been prepared and fully characterised. We have determined the single crystal structures of [Fe(1) _2][PF _6] _2·MeCN, [Fe(2) _2][PF _6] _2·MeCN and [Ru(2) _2][PF _6] _2 and illustrate how the pendant substituents affect the π-stacking interactions between tpy domains of adjacent cations in the solid state.
