SABIC Innovative Plastics has developed a high-performance compound combining carbon fibre with Ultem polyetherimide (PEI) resin, which is designed to replace die-cast and machined aluminium in aircraft interior components. Vaupell, a contract manufacturer of injection-moulded components and assemblies, is working with SABIC Innovative Plastics to validate the new material in aircraft seating components
