PTA and PX output upped

BP has announced plans to increase its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) capacity at its Geel,Belgium plant and also announced that it has recently increased its paraxylene (PX) capacity to 560,000 tonnes/year.To be completed by 2008,the debottlenecking of the PTA plant will be undertaken using BP's proprietary technology.It mil increase capacity by 350,000 tonnes/year,thereby bringing the total output to 1.4 million tonnes/year,The new technology will also be applied in another 900,000 tonnes/year PTA plant in Zhuhai,China,PTA is used to manufacture PE resin.
