Flexible packaging,and flexible plastic packaging (FPP) in particular,is a very large,multi billion-dollar business within the 100 billion-plus total U.S.packaging market.A large percentage of the total volume of thermoplastic resins produced and consumed in the U.S.goes into packaging,estimated by the American Plastics Council at about 29% of the total in 2001.And flexible packaging of all types constitutes close to 20% of the total packaging market for all materials.
