摘要

This paper presents a detailed mathematical modelling of a constant molar flow of pure adsorbate into a semi-batch adsorber. Processes such as Knudsen diffusion, viscous flow, surface diffusion and heat effects are accounted for in the model. The simulations of the model show that the method is a very convenient and quick means to characterise adsorption kinetics. Application of this method to sorption kinetics of methane, ethane, propane and n-butane on activated carbon shows the potential of this method as an alternative tool to study adsorption kinetics.
