Point-of-care laboratory testing connectivity (POCLTC) involves computer software-driven interfaces designed to facilitate the integration of point-of-care laboratory testing (POCLT) patient and quality control (QC) results into the computerized medical record with monitoring and laboratory interaction capability. It has been 10 years since the Connectivity Industry Consortium (CIC) was established, where the health care industry and the vendors came together to discuss the need for and develop standards for connectivity with regard to POCLT results (QC and patient results) as outlined in the CIC vision statement:
