3M (St. Paul, Minnesota / USA; www.3m.com) has announced plans to invest EUR 36m in lifting dialysis membrane production at the Wuppertal / Germany-based plant operated by its subsidiary Membrana (www.memrana.com). The company said the measure is the result of rising global demand for filters used in haemodialysis. By installing a proprietary automated line, 3M plans to lift the site's output of PES and PP membranes by up to 50%. The additional capacity is expected to come on stream in 2018.
