Engineering Recyclate January 2016: Virgin material declines ring in slight fall for most regrind grades

The calm on the secondary PA and PC price fronts that reigned in late 2015 did not last into January. Instead, both grades trended slightly down amid pressure caused by the drop in long-term virgin material contracts. The same was true for PC/ABS blends. Solely rABS and rPOM, whose primary relatives were sliding, held stable. Demand was rather lively for the short production month of January. After having run down their stocks at the end of 2015, many processors started to build them up again. However, once inventories have been replenished, demand is expected to normalise.
