India's plastic packaging market is forecast to grow by an average 18% a year to USD 72 bn in 2020, according to a report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI, New Delhi; www.ficci.com) and India's Tata Strategic Management Group (Mumbai; www.tsmg.com). Factors driving demand include a rising population, the high growth of end-user industries and changing lifestyles. Growth in India's plastic packaging consumption is led by the flexible packaging market, forecast to rise by 25% per year to USD 46.8 bn in 2020. The rigid packaging market is projected to expand by 15% per year to USD 25.9 bn in 2020.
