摘要

The Indian health ministry is looking into imposing a ban on using PET containers as the primary packaging for some liquid, orally ingested medications. The official announcement was made on 29 September 2014, and interested parties have until 28 March this year to hand in their objections to the ordinance, which otherwise will automatically go into effect. The ministry said its decision is based on the grounds that the material could "have significant side-effects in humans due to the presence of endocrine-disrupting substances." A ban would put PET on the same level as bisphenol A and fertiliser DDT.
