It only took a week for pan-European investor Aurelius (Munich / Germany; www.aureliusinvest.de) to fill the void left by Ludgate Environmental Fund (St. Helier, Jersey / UK; www.ludgateenvironmental.com) when the latter decided to pull the plug on ECO Plastics (Hemswell, Lincolnshire / UK; www.ecoplasticsltd.com). The German fund on 12 December 2014 announced that it had acquired the Hemswell-based business for an undisclosed amount. The plant is capable of sorting 150,000 t/y of mixed bottles, representing about 35% of the total UK bottle collection rate.
