Launching 'Xytron' family of PPS compounds / Zhejiang-based joint venture set up with China's NHU

After all efforts to seal a collaboration with China Lumena New Materials (Hong Kong / China; www.lumena.hk) failed, DSM Engineering Plastics (Sittard / The Netherlands; www. dsm.com) has found a new partner for its polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds. Its new joint venture DSM NHU Engineering Plastics (Zhejiang) was set up together with PPS producer Zhejiang NHU Special Materials (Shangyu, Zhejiang / China), which was founded in 2012 and is a subsidiary of vitamins, aromatics and foodstuff additives specialist Zhejiang NHU. The Dutch group owns a 60% stake in the jv, with NHU in control of the remaining 40%. The news means DSM has now joined the ranks of global PPS producers, which also include Celanese, Solvay and Toray.
