US blow moulder puts in largest bid for PET processor APPE / Last remaining La Seda business to be sold off

Now that the last remaining business of the former PET market leader will be sold, the case of La Seda de Barcelona can finally be laid to rest. As part of a bidding process, the group's former processing business, APPE (Wrexham / UK; www. appepackaging.com), has now gone to Plastipak (Plymouth, Michigan / USA; www.plastipak.com), whose EUR 327.9m bid outdid those of all other interested parties. The purchase price puts the value of APPE - which operates PET plants in Belgium, Germany, France, the UK, Morocco, Spain and Turkey - at about EUR 360m.
