It seems that a new study showing the adverse effects of plastic bags crops up every couple of weeks, highlighting either the need for fees or more radical solutions, including bans and the call for reusable cloth alternatives instead. While such measures may help reduce the amount of plastic discarded into the environment, to date there have been no empirical studies on the cost and benefit of reusable bags.
