Controlling interest in Clipper gas field acquired / Purchase of 12 further gas fields pending approval

Unless EU competition authorities object, Ineos (Rolle / Switzerland; www.ineos.com) will secure a controlling interest in the North Sea's Clipper gas field with the acquisition of the 25% stake held by the UK's Fairfield Energy (Staines-upon-Thames; www.fairfield-energy.com) for an undisclosed sum. The purchase potentially widens Ineos' ownership of the field to 75 %. The remaining 25 % share will stay with German energy group Bayerngas (Munich; www.bayerngas.de). Also in October, Ineos took stakes in 12 North Sea gas fields owned or part-owned by DEA UK, the British subsidiary of German oil and gas group DEA (Hamburg; www.dea-group.com/en) in a deal rumoured to be worth GBP 500m.
