European plastic recovery rates in the building and construction sector vary wildly/ PlasticsEurope study

More than 56% of all building and construction (B&C) waste in the 27 European Union (EU 27) member states plus Norway and Switzerland was recovered and utilised in 2010, a study by the European plastics manufacturers association PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org) has found. By comparison, the figure for 2009 was just under 52%. In absolute terms, the quantity of plastics recycled rose to 273,000 t in 2010 from 211,000 t in the year before.
