Commercial output kicks off at bio-based succinic add plant in Italy/ Footwear, packaging applications

Eight months after the regulatory authorities approved the creation of Reverdia (Delft / The Netherlands; www.reverdia.com), the DSM (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.dsm.com) and Roquette Freres (Lestrem / France; www.roquette.com) joint venture has started commercial production of its "Biosuccini-um" sustainable succinic acid. The company said its 10,000 t/y plant, located in Cassano Spinola / Italy, is the world's first large-scale facility capable of turning out succinic acid from renewable sources.
