As expected, cost reductions in feedstocks-ethylene down EUR 35/t, and propylene dropping EUR 40/t-were reflected to essentially the same extent in polyolefin prices in the first ten days of the month of October. In fact, the tendency appears to be leaning towards a price discount slightly larger than any cost reduction for nearly all PE grades. PP, in contrast, looks set to stabilise at a level incorporating the feedstock price reduction. With the market tending tight, both sides will have very little leeway.
