Beyond Pesticides Asks States to Prohibit Use of Red Cross Symbol on Labels

The environmental group Beyond Pesticides asked regulatory agencies in all 50 states March 12 to prohibit the Clorox Co.from marketing pesticide products labeled with the American Red Cross symbol.Clorox has agreed to donate up to 1 million to the American Red Cross when consumers purchase certain products bearing the soon-to-be-released pesticide labels bearing the Red Cross symbol.However,according to Beyond Pesticides,the new labels violate federal pesticide laws and mislead consumers.
