Production record for C2, standard thermoplastics / Additional capacity expansion planned this year

At 5.05m t of ethylene, sourced from 13 different crackers, Sinopec (Beijing / China; www.sinopec.com) says it has achieved a new production record - albeit by including the output of the Chinese oil and petrochemical giant's four joint venture lines as well. All in all, the group says it raised C2 output by 19.3% over H1 2010. Just last year Sinopec had commissioned two new crackers with overall capacity for 2m t in Ningbo (Sinopec Zhenhai) and in Tianjin (through its Sinopec Sabic Tianjin joint venture).
