In the first four months of 2011, German plastics converters made a lot of headway on the course predicted in February by Bernd-Otto Kruse, president of the German plastics processing industry association Gesamtverband Kunststoffver-arbeitende Industrie. Sales have recovered and now reach or even exceed the levels attained in the first four months of 2008, when they stood at EUR 15 bn. This year, they raised that figure by about 0.4% to EUR 60m and all signs point to a new sales record by year's end. The precondition for this, of course, is that the sector's development continue unabated and not experience a major slide, as happened in 2008.
