ERA Announces Final Rule to Expand Use of Short Form to Report TRI Releases

The Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule Dec.18 that is expected to expand the use of shorter,less-detailed reports on releases of toxic chemicals under the Toxics Release Inventory (71 Fed.Reg.76,932).The agency raised the threshold at which companies have to use the more detailed Form R for reporting releases and restructured the reporting scheme in a way that EPA officials said will minimize chemical waste and increase recycling.
