Sabic Innovative Plastics(SIP,Bergen op Zoom / The Netherlands;www.sabic-ip.com)has confirmed to PIE that it plans to close its loss-making ABS plant at Villers-Saint-Sulpice / France,north of Paris,by the end of the first half of 2008,with the loss of 165 jobs.At least part of the estimated 70,000 t/y output will be transferred to Grangemouth / Scotland,where the last capacity reported for the business's former owner,GE Plastics(GEP),was 60,000 t/y.A spokeswoman told PIE that it is the company's"long-standing policy not to discuss capacity."
