Experts from industry and academia will gather for the 2013 SPE International Polyolefins Conference from Feb. 24 to 27 in Houston, Texas. This year's theme of "The Polyolefin Renaissance" encompasses the excitement and new opportunities created by the expanding polyolefins industry in the United States. "Cheap shale gas in the United States has revitalized the polyolefin industry in the last two years," says conference chair, Dr. Dave Hansen of SBC Polymers Consulting. "New crackers and plant expansions have been announced, it is economically advantageous to buy and mold polyolefins in the United States, and profits are up."
