Majority of Enamel Paint in India Exceeds Voluntary Limit, U.S. Standard, Study Finds

The majority of oil-based enamel paints sampled in a recent study of paints in India exceeded both India's voluntary lead-concentration limit and the U.S. limit, according to the study released Sept. 12 by Toxics Link, an environmental advocacy organization based in New Delhi. Ravi Agarwal, director of Toxics Link, wrote in the foreword of a report summarizing the study that the re-search is important "since paints are widely used across products and across households, giving rise to scattered and distributed contamination concerns."
