Both Sony and Fujitsu see biodegradability as a way to avoid Japanese recycling regulations for quickly obsoleted consumer electronics. The resin to be used by both firms is NatureWorks, a cornstarch-derived polyactic acid thermoplastic supplied by Cargill Dow LLC of Minnetonka, MN, USA.
