The Russian economy has grown at an annual rate of over 6% since the financial crisis of 1998.In turn,domestic demand for plastics has risen considerably since the end of the 1990s and cannot now be entirely satisfied by local production,especially for high-technology materials.Per capita consumption of plastics is lower than in western Europe and the rising demand for synthetic materials has been driven by new and changing applications.
