Europe's injection moulding industry takes a dive/Western European market contracts/New AMI report

After growing at nearly 2% each year up to 2008, the value of Europe's plastics injection moulding industry took a nosedive in 2009, dropping 23% to a total of EUR 42.6 bn, a new consulting report by British market researcher Applied Market Information (AMI, Bristol/UK; www.amiplastics.com) has found. In 2008, the market still generated EUR 55 bn, but the last quarter proved horrendous for this processing sector, wiping out gains made during the past five years, the British company says.
