European growth of 4.5% /Sport,leisure and footwear main applications /AMI study

Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) have been experiencing above-average growth of around 4.5% a year in western Europe during the past few years.The highly fragmented market is not particularly transparent and is estimated to have a volume of 520,000 t/y.According to a report by market research institute Applied Market Information (AMI,GB-Bristol BS1 3QP;www.amiplastics.com),sports and leisure including footwear now account for 25% of TPE applications.In second place is automotive with 21%,followed by customised applications with 20% and the construction industry with 14%.
