Global Trade Unions Adopt Common Strategy On Chemicals,Climate Change,Environment

SINGAPORE-International trade union representatives agreed Jan.17 at a meeting with the United Nations Environment Program(UNEP)in Nairobi to push for government and workplace reforms that promote sustainable production and minimize the environmental impact of business activities.The Trade Union Assembly on Labor and the Environment said in a Jan.18 statement that its more than 150 member organizations had agreed to strengthen trade union efforts to reform government policies with a view to"facilitating the transition to sustainable production and consumption in workplaces and the introduction of workers' environmental rights and participation."
