Texas Environmental Agency Fines DuPont For Industrial Hazardous Waste Discharge

AUSTIN,Texas-The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Oct.24 approved a fine of 137,600 against E.I.du Pont de Nemours's Jefferson County,Texas,facility for an industrial hazardous waste discharge that caused a fish kill.The fine approved by the commission under an agreed enforcement order was for failure to prevent the discharge of 4,930 gallons of wastewater from the manufacture of acrylonitrile-a liquid chemical used in making plastics-into a marsh.
