Houston-US toluene prices,June 6,were approaching blend value,(the price at which it becomes profitable to use as an octane booster for gasoline),leading some market participants to speculate that prices would firm up as blenders took interest.The toluene market for cargoes to be loaded in June traded as low as 284.5 cents/gal FOB USG on June 5,with the July laycan in backwardation,trading at 282 cents/gal FOB USG.

7. Commodity prices have risen sharply since 2006. This may benefit developing countries specialized on primary exports, but poverty may increase. Uruguay is a net exporter of primary products and a net importer of oil.
