Equate starts up 850,000 mt/year Kuwait ethylene plant

Tokyo-Equate Petrochemical Co. started commercial operations at its new ethylene plant, part of its Olefins II project in Shuaiba, Kuwait, on November 20, the company said December 1. The ethylene plant, or steam cracker, had originally been scheduled to come online in June but was delayed because of problems with delivery of construction materials and a lack of skilled labor.
